Can you believe that there is no snow in the forcast for tomorrow! It seems like that last 3 weeks, the weather has kept so many people home! I look forward to our time together tomorrow!
I will be preaching on King of the Hill #3, and how God is looking for us to let Him be the King of our lives.
I was reading in one of my devotions this morning and it dealt with being a disciple of Jesus, or allowing Him to the be the King of our Hill. The word DISCIPLE means - "Being an apprentice to someone." We see this in the life of the disciples, that when Jesus called them to follow Him, they left everything to be a follower of Jesus. The disciples left or sacrificed everything (home, comfort, money, jobs) to be a follower, apprentice or disciple of Jesus.
In 2009, we have this same call to follow Jesus. Are we really willing to make Jesus the King of our Hill?
Read the following words of a young pastor from Zimbabwe, Africa, who was martyred for being a follower of Jesus Christ.
"The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made - I am a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I'm finished with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, depend on His presence, walk by patience, and uplifted by prayer and labor with power."
That's what it means to make Jesus King of the Hill!
That was a great message. If only we all could act like the message of God was as important as our jobs or TV ect. I know I try I also know I fail, but I will keep trying. God Bless.
