In talking with a lot of people, the economy is not very good! Many people are losing thier jobs, losing their life savings, losing thier homes, and it a very painful time in our world! I am thankful for God's Word that encourages us with these words - "I have never seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging bread." God has a way of coming through for His people, when we walk in faith and obedience to His Word!
I read something from Bob Buford who wrote an article on "How God Can Work In The Midst Of Economic Crisis." I will give you some of his points:
1. Adversity causes people to reevaluate what is really important in thier lives.
2. Distress re-centers people of issues of the heart rather than issues of rationality. When you are in trouble, we have a tendency to go back to the basics.
3. Sustaining a big loss causes people to deal with reality, and to make us realize that we are not reall in control! (That is why we need to make Jesus the King of our hill!)
4. Where there is abundance, there is a lack of discipline. When we have everything we really do not need constraint, discipline in many areas of life. When money is tight, it causes us to make choices and have discipline in many areas of our lives. Difficult times make us make a choice between FAITH or FEAR!
At age 33, Andrew Carnegie resolved to liquidate his interests in order to serve other people. Ultimately it didn't happen until he was in his fifties when he established Carnegie Hall and the public library system among other things, disposing of 90% of his wealth in his lifetime. He said, "Man must have an idol - the amassing of wealth is one of the worst species of idolatry. No idol more debasing than the worship of money. Whatever I engage in, I must push inordinately, therefore I should be careful to choose that life which will be the most elevating in its character. To continue much longer overwhelmed by business cares and with most of my thoughts wholly upon the way to make more money in the shortest time, must degrade me beyond the hope of permanent recovery."
We all have a choice to make in this difficult economy? Will we walk by faith or fear?
I choose faith! Fear cripples you and your walk with the Lord, where faith makes you focus & concentrate on the Lord & His faithfulness!
ReplyDeleteDaily we must decide to walk in faith! God's Word tells us - "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." We must be people of the Word if we want to be people of faith!
