We have been looking at the book of Isaiah for the last few weeks on Sunday mornings, and one of my favorite verses is in Isaiah 40:31 - "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles." If you have come into my office you will notice that I have a lot of eagles. We can learn some very practical issues from the eagle.
Did you know:
- Every morning, eagles will take about an hour to do what is known as "preening".
- Every morning, the eagle will sit on a rock, branch or ledge and pull every feather through its mouth.
- On each wing there is 1200 feathers.
- "Preening" is like steam-cleaning.
Why do the eagles do this?
- To clean their wings from the past day. To clean off the dirt, and restore their wings.
- An oil will be secreted from their mouth that will glaze their feathers. This oil will keep their feathers from getting soaked in the rain, mist, dew, fog, or snow so that they will be able to soar no matter what weather they are facing.
Why should we Pray (Preen)?
1. To cleanse us and restore us from the dirt and debris that is all around us on a daily basis.
2. To fill us with the oil of the Holy Spirit that will help us from getting overwhelmed by the situations of life.
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..."
Remember to vote this coming Sunday!
