Last night we have our Annual Church Business meeting and I shared a message called "Mission Impossible." Those are two interesting words that as a church we need to hear today:
MISSION
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel." That is the mission of the church!
Worship, Evangelism and Discipleship. The Mission is never to end, until Jesus comes back again. So as a church we must be about the mission! The Church is not about religion, programs and just maintaining and keeping people happy! The Church is about MISSION!
IMPOSSIBLE
How many remember the TV series called "Mission Impossible" Each episode would begin the with music and there was a tape and they played it and said. Jim, if you and your team accept this mission. If you are caught the government will not be able to help you. Then they would give them the mission, and then the tape would say, and this tape will self-destruct in 5 seconds.
The Church feels that it is on an impossible mission today. We look at the economy, the world, the violence, the sin and feel that there is nothing that we can do about it. Let me tell you without God it is am impossible situtation!
But I am encouraged that God is still on the Throne! I want to encourage you to read Isaiah 40 and see how awesome our God is and will always be.
Knowing as a man how I have fallen short of God's glory. Knowing that our future is uncertain in this world full of sin and darkness as Pastor has said,I know without God I would not make it through. I would self destruct. If I have to depend on my past to see me through to the future then I am bound to fail. If I trust in God and hold true to His promises then I am garunteed a place near Him. Now that is one mission that is impossible to turn down.
