That is a very personal question to ask someone? How do you smell? When I think of the word smell, I think of the many great smells that there are in this world. Homemade break cooking, turkey cooking in the oven, almost anything cooking smells so great. When you go outdoors and you cut the lawn there is a nice smell, flowers, etc. On the other hand there are some smells that are not so great and I really do not need to mention them. Okay maybe just one - when you driving down the road and you come across a dead skunk. That is quite the smell!
I was reading in 2 Corinthians this morning and it talks about our lives being a fragrance or a smell. In chapter 2: 15-16 - "Our lives are a fragrance presented by Christ to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those being saved and by those perishing. To those who are perishing we are a fearful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved we are a life-giving perfume.
That tells me that our lives should be a fragrance of what the Lord is doing in our lives. That the overflow of my relationship with him will be like a perfume that brings glory to God. To some people they will not like the smell, because they will realize that they are not right with God, and the Lord will use our lives, words, testimony to convict them. To others, they will smell the fragrance of Jesus on our lives and they will want what we have in the Lord!
So think about it today - How's your smell?
I'm wondering if I always spread a sweet perfume type of fragrance that pleases my Lord or if at times, as was said by Pastor, that of a dead skunk.
ReplyDeleteLord, keep us sweet-smelling in Your Eyes, that we would always be a vessel that draws hearts to You.
Jesus is the Lily of the Valley and the Rose of Sharon. When we abide in Him He will cause us all to come out smelling like a rose. It doesn't matter if this world turns their nose up. It only matters that we Rose Up "...and above all these things, put on love..." Colossians 3:14
